Many will wonder how the Japanese peanuts NISHIKAWA started, well here is the story….

In 1928, Mr.  NISHIKAWA arrived in Mexican lands from Kumamoto, Japan, and
years later, Mrs.  YONEMOTO born in Hiroshima, Japan arrived to Mexico as well. They soon met each other in Mexicali, Baja California and got married in 1930 and had 4 children: Sumiko, Fusako,  Kimie and Yoshiaki.

During World War ll, after the attack on Pearl Harbor (1941), all the Japanese people who lived in Mexicali and cities adjoining the United States had to leave everything and move for their safety as refugees to a land lent by Mr. Matsumoto in Zumpango, State of Mexico,  Nishikawa’s family was one of the families that lived in Zumpango, Mr.  NISHIKAWA worked for Mr. Matsumoto as a gardener for several years until World War II ended.

At first, everything was done manually in a very homemade way, a family business where his wife and children helped him.

On the other hand, in 1958, Mr. JESÚS  , decided to return to Mexico where he met FUSAKO NISHIKAWA and married on February 14, 1960, since then,   Mr. JESUS joined the family business of manufacturing NISHIKAWA Japanese peanuts. FUSAKO NISHIKAWA and Mr. JESÚS  took over the business.

Mr. JESUS ,distributed the production of the day on his bicycle to the food market and the NISHIKAWA Japanese peanuts were left on consignment, after the week past the peanuts had been sold and received a lot of acceptance. Over the years, and due to the success and great demand of NISHIKAWA Japanese peanuts product distribution began through Authorized Distributors to reach the entire Mexican territory.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, in Fukuoka near Hiroshima was JESUS HIDEO  with only 12 years he was in battle as a military soldier during World War ll (1942-1945).

In 1945, when World War II ended, all the Japanese who were refugees in
Zumpango, left without money, without any belongings, many of them, without knowing the Spanish language, went out to look for work in order to support their families.

Mr.  NISHIKAWA, worked in several places until finally he invented and innovated
a variation of the covered peanuts that existed in Japan, it was then in 1957, when the creation of the JAPAN STYLE NISHIKAWA peanut began, which brought an oriental touch with the flavor of Soy sauce. The peanuts nutritional value and the Mexican touch of the spicy taste of chili unites the two cultures: Mexican and Japanese, resulting in the best delicious and nutritious peanut snack.

As curious facts:

• NISHIKAWA is THE FIRST officially registered company in Mexico of Japanese-style peanuts WITH PUBLIC HEALTH RECORD S.S.A. No. 53171 “A”, No. 108508 “A”, S.S.A. No. 110480 “A” dating from 1957

• The presentation of NISHIKAWA peanuts has remained the same since 1957: transparent bag with blue oriental style letters, with the image of a Japanese person, packaged in a brown paper bag.

You’ve wondered why most of the Japanese peanut brands that are on the market today, they COPY this design of the transparent bag, the packaging in a brown bag and even put a name that rhymes with “AWA” so that the People get confused and they think to themselves that these are NISHIKAWA?

Why not use another color, another type of packaging bag other than brown paper, another font, another name that does not rhyme with “AWA”?

Despite the marketing statistics and as an interesting case study in some prestigious universities in Mexico, they have studied how a company like NISHIKAWA has been able to survive for more than 60 years WITHOUT ANY ADVERTISING (No radio or television ads, nor magazines, newspaper, or spectacular, etc.)?

The answer is very simple, NISHIKAWA is always imitated but never matched!

NISHIKAWA is a product with high quality standards, always using FIRST QUALITY raw material, created by a JAPANESE, where two cultures merge: Japanese and Mexican resulting in, THE BEST JAPANESE STYLE PEANUTS: NISHIKAWA.

For NISHIKAWA, the elaboration of the JAPANESE STYLE PEANUT, is not a commercial process, but an entire CULINARY ART, where the detail in each peanut is taken care of so that it reaches the palate of each client as a delightful snack .
